If you haven't received yours, please contact us. Church of Ireland Parish Registers: July 4, 2002. A major new project has commenced regarding the Church of Ireland Parish Registers. This project is expected to take several years, and involves systematically searching Church of Ireland parish registers for events for Meates and variants. All parishes where a Meates is known to have resided will be searched. The project is starting with the parishes of St. Peter's, St. Catherine's, St. Luke's, and St. Mary's in Dublin. These parish registers are held in Dublin, Ireland. DNA Project Established: December 10, 2001. A DNA project for Mate, Mates, Meates, Meats, and variants has been established with FamilyTreeDNA.com. Please contact us if you would like to participate.
Deceased: December 8, 2001. Richard Kenneth Meates, 48, of Silver Springs, Md., died from injuries substained in an automobile accident. He was born in NYC, the son of the late Richard F. Meates and the late Vera E. Meates. He was an Army veteran and was employed by Verizon Communications as an Engineering Assistant. Internment at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Hendersonville, NC with Military graveside honors. Richard was the last known male in Line 1. He is survived by his sister, and a daughter.
Deceased: October 17, 2001. Vera E. Meates, 87. Vera was the wife of the late Richard F. Meates, of Line 1. She is survived by a daughter, a son, and a granddaughter. Her three brothers proceeded her death.
Directory of Family Associations: August 15, 2001. The fourth edition of this book has just been published, and the Meates Family Association is listed. This publication should help us find Meates descendants and researchers who do not have internet access.
Guild of One Name Studies: Meates and variants have been registered.
Digital Library: August 1, 2001. A digital library has been established that will contain all documents and photographs. The time consuming project of scanning and indexing all records has begun, and it is anticipated to be completed in 5 years. Access is currently available by requesting a search via email. The index will be available with an online search facility when completed.
